In spirit of the nationally mushy gushy, awfully dreaded by society shunned singles, holiday, I shall blog, on Friday The 13th, about the too pink St. Valentine's Day.
Pink is everywhere. Cupid & his arrows, delicate lace hearts, pink foiled chocolates, and I Love You cards have staked their claim in stores & shops all over town since mid January. I recently received a flyer, pink of course, with the rather intriguing story of how St. Valentine's Day came about:
Valentine's Day has vastly evolved over the years. From once being a morbid celebration, to feast honoring a deceased Saint's relics, it now represents a day of picture perfect love.
Historically February marked the beginning of spring and was a time for purification. This called for celebrations and festivals. During the festivities all the young women in the city would place their names in a big urn. The city's bachelors would then each choose a name out of the urn and become paired for the year with his chosen women. These matches often ended in marriage. While this traditions died off, the romantic feel of the day never vanished.
I've never really been a fan of Valentine's Day. Even in all the years before this. K & I have always celebrated because well....it WAS Valentine's Day. But he & I shared the same thought when it came to overly dramatic displays of affection. I think that's what made me love him even more. & as I've mentioned before, too much of the color pink makes me want to punch things.
So what are my plans for this day you may wonder? I am doing the V-Day usual. Dinner and a movie with TWO Valentines. :) Two of my wonderful best friends & I are having dinner at a quaint little Italian restaurant in Highland Village, then more than likely getting a little bit inebriated then it's on to watch our life stories fold out before us in the epic movie.... Confessions of a Shopaholic.
& as for my plans for Friday The 13th? There are none. I've barricaded my doors & windows. (well...pretty much) I've stocked my house filled with enough junk food to last about 70 sleep-overs, enough movies to run out the bulb in my movie projector, and my Mum has wonderfully washed my softest PJs & my favorite socks (the one with about 20 bells on it)! People think I'm silly to be so superstitious, but Friday the 13th + Nic = no good! Nothing good can come of today! The many horrible previous Friday the 13ths are proof!
Have a wonderful & cautious day all! Until next time.....

The Big 21(+1) Birthday Blowout
After a full 3 days, the birthday celebrations have officially ended. It has been the craziest weekend of 2009, so far that is. We have a whole line up of Birthday Celebrations ahead of us in the next few months. Much of the last 3 days is a blur. If not for pictures, I would not remember more than half of the people that came out & celebrated with me.
Thursday was spent in town Rbar. I got to celebrate with all my wonderful under 21 friends (the young'ns) & those who wouldn't be able to make it out to rounds II or III. I honestly do not remember past the 5th shot at Rbar. But the pictures tell me that I had a blast!

Friday was by far the most kick ass night! I got to celebrate with some crazy crazy people at one of my favorite clubs, Kinki's! It was a mix of best friends, hot boys, and of course, one of my favorite Asian boy :P We finished off 2 bottles of Grey Goose in about 2 hours. Once again, I don't remember past my 2nd drink. (the drink was 3/4 Grey and MAYBE a splash of Sprite!) The pictures are out of this world hilarious. There was dancing, drinking, lap dances being given. Hott. Now the ride home....yeah not so hott.

Saturday was the kegger that was thrown for me and Twin. After 2 incredibly brutal mornings, I had a feeling that I should probably take it easy that night. This was confirm after the first sip of alcohol I had. So then on out, I watched my little sister get pretty swasty faced. Hilarious, as always. It was a pretty chill night, which was the perfect ending to the drunkest weekend of my life.

All in all my 21 (+1) was a complete success. Parties, Pictures, Booze, Besties & Boys make for one fabulous birthday! So thank you to everyone who took part in celebrating with me. Your being there meant the world!
